Launching with a new app, Lufthansa, Apple Watch will be more popular among travelers around the world.

Lufthansa is known as the largest airline in Europe, the company confirmed and announced on May 16 the launch of the app that is designed intentionally for Apple Watch. This could lead to a growth in popularity for the smartwatch and also a growth in relevance for a new group of people, more precisely the travelers of the world.

The app allows an Apple Watch user to use the device as a substitute for a boarding pass as well as a mini flight-information module. Passengers can view specific flight details 24 hours before their flight and till they board their plane. For instance, users can keep track of how long they have till a flight starts to board.

Travelers will also enjoy the Apple Watch app knowing more information about their flight. Also, passengers will be able to inform about their seat numbers, terminal numbers, boarding time as well as status of the flight and weather forecasts in included in the new Apple Watch Lufthansa app.

“The importance of mobile applications is continuing to grow rapidly. As a leading airline, we want to continuously expand our prime position– not just on board our flights and on the ground, but also in the area of mobile applications and digital services. Our goal is to provide our customers with information and services in real time at all virtual touch points, thereby further to make their travel experience more comfortable. With this new app, our passengers will always be able to see the most important details about their flight– without having to take their smartphone out of their bag,” said Jens Bischof, member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board for product, marketing and sales.

The graphics have been designed especially for the display on the Apple Watch. These functions will initially only be available to Miles & More participants who are logged in to the Lufthansa app for iPhones or iPads. For passengers who do not have a Miles & More card, these functions will be available at a later date.

Lufthansa app will be available for free on the iOS App Store, and can also be linked to the Lufthansa app on an iPhone or iPad.
