Xiaomi, a 5-year-old upstart, whose tablets and smartphones have enjoyed remarkable sales in China, is now setting shop in Europe and the U.S.; however, smartphones and tablets will not be featured in the company's European and U.S. markets.
Xiaomi plans to launch an online platform for U.S. consumers this coming Monday evening. Through this online marketplace, consumers will enjoy a variety of accessories that include portable battery backs, headphones, and activity trackers. Later on Tuesday, Xiaomi will also hit the ground running in France, Germany and the U.K., according to Billboard.

The Chinese company was founded in 2010. It runs a business model that entails selling over 1,000 products, ranging from television sets to stuffed animals to mobile phone accessories. The company intends budget-conscious buyers to fall in love with its affordable tablets and smartphones.
The launch marks Xiaomi's drastic step towards expanding its operations to the west. In emerging markets such as India and China, the company has already established itself by offering customers inexpensive smartphones. In the coming few months, plans are underway to launch in Brazil, according to CNet.
Despite the significant steps towards crossing its boundaries, Xiaomi wants consumers to view it as more than a gadget maker. In an interview in March about the intended move to the western markets, Xiaomi's global Vice President Hugo Barra said that the company is increasing itself as a lifestyle brand.
Currently, huge bets are already laid on the company's success. In December 2014, Xiaomi topped the list of the most valuable startups in the world. This is after raising an extra $1.1 billion in terms of venture capital funding - giving it a valuation of approximately $45 billion.
For managing to fascinate consumers with its high quality and excellently-crafted mobile gadgets, Xiaomi is now considered to be in Apple's league. Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO and founder, frequently commands a stage presence just like Apple's Steve Jobs. Regarding shipping of its products, the company said it will try its best to deliver products within seven business days at a fee.
