Bin Laden’s Stash Declassified: Video Games And Gamespot Official Guide Found In Terrorist Leader’s Compound

U.S. Intelligence Declassify Bin Laden's Abbottabad Documents

(Photo : Reuters) Osama Bin Laden apparently had video game guides in his Pakistan hideout.

U.S. intelligence officials were able to declassify hundreds of random documents confiscated in the Abbottabad compound of infamous terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden. The files were taken after SEAL team 6's raid on 2011, which led to Bin Laden's death.

The declassified documents contained some pretty interesting materials, like American published articles about terrorism and the Al Qaeda, including an article by the Los Angeles Times entitled "Is al-Qaeda Just Bush's Boogeyman?" However, one of the most interesting finds is a game guide by popular magazine Gamespot and another guide for "Delta Force Xtreme 2" released in 2009.

"Delta Force Xtreme 2" is a first-person shooter released by NovaLogic for the PC. Like other games of its genre, "Delta Force" includes terrorist shooting and action-packed chases on military vehicles. Unlike the major players like the "Call of Duty" series, though, "Delta Force" seemed to lack a lot of luster. Gamespot itself called the game an "'xtremely' [sic] forgettable first-person shooter that doesn't excel at anything."

Gamespot reporter Eddie Makuch clarified that while their game guide appeared on Bin Laden's compound, there is no indication to deny or confirm whether the terrorist leader played the game himself. After all, the game guide was filed under "Documents Probably Used by Other Compound Residents." The other items under this classification include "Is It the Heart You Are Asking?" a suicide prevention guide by Dr. Islam Sobhi al-Mazeny, as well as a children's edition of the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records.

Other documents found in Bin Laden's compound include Paul Kennedy's "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers," Bob Woodward's "Obama's Wars," and a Michael Fry and John Berardi book called "Grappler's Guide to Sports Nutrition."
