The 35-year old actor made his appearance at a charity event sponsored by New York Daily News and Disney Studios. Local children were the ones who attended the event.
While the rest of US have to wait for the opening of the movie later this week, the kids were able to enjoy the movie earlier. Two hundred fifty children and their families who are partners with Variety the Children's Charity of New York and Children of Promise came to the screening.
These charities help fund arts programs and after-school programs ran by non-profit organizations locally. Their aim is to enrich the lives of underprivileged children around the Tristate area.
The actor made his appearance after the closing credits and was met with screams and squeals of the surprised audience.
"That was really fun, this is what is all about. I get impatient sometimes being on a promotional tour all the time, but something like this I would sit here as long as it took to take a picture with every one of those guys," Chris Pratt said.
Chris Pratt stayed long enough for everyone to take pictures with him and answer the children's questions as well as to offer words of advice.
The actor stated, "Take it from a kid who came from no money. If you stick to your path, you can be your own Star-Lord."
The Marvel movie revolves around the story of heroes in space who are defending the galaxy will be released on August 1 in the US.
