Tech leader Microsoft recently announced that its latest operating system, Windows 10, will launch with a total of seven different editions: Home, Mobile, Pro, Enterprise, Education, Mobile Enterprise and IoT Core.
Microsoft aims to promote their brand throughout most, if not all, of the devices available on the market today. Gone are the days when a single operating system is remodeled over and over to suit both mobile and PC users, as each gadget today reportedly demands different settings and compatibility modes. This is exactly what Microsoft aims to address with its seven editions, as Corporate Vice President for Windows and Search Marketing Tony Prophet said.

"As in the past, we will offer different Windows editions that are tailored for various device families and uses. These different editions address specific needs of our various customers, from consumers to small businesses to the largest enterprises," Prophet posted on the Windows blog.
Windows 10 will have versions applicable for PCs, tablets, smartphones, and even the Xbox One. Below is a list of the seven editions and their functions.
Home
Microsoft's flagship Windows 10 Home is calibrated for users of the PC, laptops, tablets and 2-in-1s. It features Windows Hello with comprehensive biometric security settings, as well as the Continuum tablet mode. Also, it comes with the Cortana digital assistant, which is only available in certain markets, and Xbox One game streaming features.
Mobile
The mobile version is aimed towards touchscreen-focused gadgets like smaller tablets and a wide array of smartphones. One of the Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile's most prominent features is the ability to leverage the Continuum tablet feature, essentially allowing users to operate their smartphones as they would a PC.
Pro
For everything from large corporations to small businesses, Microsoft 10 presents the Pro version. This is essentially similar to the Home edition, albeit with features especially calibrated for business use. This version of Windows 10 allows app management, sensitive data security and access, remote and mobile productivity features, and a lot more. It also has Microsoft's Update for Business.
Enterprise
Windows 10 Enterprise adds advanced features to the Pro, turning it into an excellent tool for medium to large corporations. Some of the enterprise's features include advanced data storage and security, as well as an optional Long Term Servicing Branch.
Education
As Microsoft integrates its system to help educators and school administration, the Windows 10 Education caters to every member of the academe, from the teachers to the students. This feature is available through the Academic Volume Licensing.
Mobile Enterprise
Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise essentially upgrades the Enterprise for field-based businesses and industries with mobile operations. Like the Enterprise, it adds security upgrades and app management services.
IoT Core
The IoT core version is perfect for low-cost gadgets with relatively low carbon footprints.
Microsoft is yet to unveil the actual release date for Windows 10, only that it will occur this summer. With all seven editions in tow, this latest upgrade promises to be the most user-friendly OS yet.
