Although the game will have additional characters, Crunchyroll pointed out that there is only a little information about them or what abilities they will have in the game. Square Enix assured the fans of the game series will be excited to see how these characters could play out in the Nintendo 3DS remake.

Digital Trends reports that "Dragon Quest 8" will have an additional scenario, featured full voice-overs and music from the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra plus StreetPass support.

It can be noted that VG 24/7 previously reported that the game will also have pre-order bonuses from different retailers. From Square Enix e-Store is a “Candy Cane” weapon for Yangus that always hit and its effective against metal-type monsters.

A “Healie T-shirt” armor is available in Amazon Japan, which increases the HP bits of any character while walking. From Aeon is a “Healie Cap” headgear that increases Wisdom along with maximum MP of any character.

In Game Tsutaya, a “Gold Bamboo Spear” is available for the protagonist, which can be sold for 5,000 gold. From 7-Eleven, a “Lucky Pendant” can increase a character's magic item and attacks.

Finally a “Metal Slime Tray” shield from Yodobashi Camera, that lets a character have little defense against magic damage.
