Good news to all smartphone users as Microsoft's digital assistant "Cortana" will now be available in both the iOS and Android software very soon.

According to MacRumors, Microsoft announced the Cortana software will be available for the iOS and Android smartphones this year, answering the numerous rumors surrounding it. Microsoft's Windows 10 will be installing a new app called "Phone Companion" and it will act as the central place for PC users to install the Cortana and other Windows related apps to the user's smartphone.

Ars Technica reportedly claimed that reason for having the Phone Companion App is to ensure that Microsoft's set of synchronized services are always available. For users who have pictures, songs or documents in their PC, this app should be available and usable to their smartphone and vice versa.

The Microsoft Cortana was released in April in the Windows Phone 8.1 as the answer to the Apple Siri and Google Now as the tech giant is curious to know how Cortana will handle itself in the smartphone market, The Fast Company wrote.

"We realize that many people use iPhones or Android phones, and we want them to enjoy some of their Windows experience and content while away from their Windows 10 PC," Microsoft said in a blog post. "Regardless of the operating systems you choose across your devices—everything important to you should roam across the products you already own—including your phone."

TheNextWeb reports that the Cortana on both iOS and Android will look almost similar to the Windows version and can answer the same queries across devices. In the Android software, users will see an integration with the operating system for reminders and other alerts.

Users using the Cortana software lets them dictate emails, set appointments and conduct Web searches by speaking commands. The software will also let people arrange to receive notifications like sports scores and flight information, CIO.com reports.

Although the Cortana's use in the smartphones is impressive, The Fast Company noted that it will not offer as many features as the full version for Windows Phone or PC.

"Some features require access to the system that aren't currently possible with iOS or Android," Microsoft wrote, "so things like toggling settings or opening apps won’t initially be available in the Cortana companions for those platforms."

It is said that Microsoft Cortana will be available for the Android software this coming June in Google Play, while the iOS version will be available in the Apple Store sometime this year.
