Free agent point guard Mo Williams and the Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a one-year contract worth $3.75 million, according to Williams' agent Priority Sports.
With Williams being added to the Timberwolves roster, he is expected to lend experience to Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio.

Williams is a career 38.5 percent shooter from three-point range and an 87 percent free-throw shooter which made him an attractive target for the Timberwolves.
The Williams deal could also mean that J.J. Barea is on his way out. He is on the final year of a $4.5 million pay-out. If Timberwolves President Flip Saunders manages to trade Barea during summer, he could save roughly $750,000 while getting Williams, a more equipped player. The scheme maintains the salary cap.
Minnesota's payroll is at about $72.8 million, including that of Williams. The NBA salary cap is around $63 million and $76.8 million for the luxury tax line. Minnesota has rights to a number of players under contract allowing them to exceed the cap without being penalized.
Last year, Saunders got small forward Corey Brewer in free agency with the same exceptions.
Williams, who turns 32 in December, is viewed as a more dynamic guard against Rubio and Zach LaVine, giving Minnesota more flexibility in the rosters.
Adding Williams makes Minnesota's roster to 15, but it could still change when Saunders decides to trade Kevin Love.
Love has expressed desires to join the Cleveland Cavaliers following LeBron James' signing as an unrestricted free agent.
Chicago voiced interest in Love and offered Doug McDermott, Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic in exchange.
The Wolves have talked with Golden State and Boston, among other teams, about Love. But with Andrew Wiggins on the block, the Cavs have an asset the Timberwolves want the most. Any deal could not be finalized until Aug. 23, the last day of Wiggins' one-month contract.
The Timberwolves exploresare exploring all their options while waiting. The team are looking into the possibility of adding a third team to make up for unloading Barea, whose projected worth next season is just under $3.3 million.
