Keanu Reeves' 90's Classic 'Point Break' Gets A Remake: Watch The Trailer

Reboots and remakes are very much in nowadays, and even camp classics like "Point Break" is not spared.

The Katheryn Bigelow-directed 90's classic is getting an update, and in the place of the surfboards and bank heists in Southern California, fans get extreme sports and world markets. Independent jokingly asked how many action sports can a movie fit in one trailer, referring to the sequence after sequence of extreme sports action in the two-minute-and-thirty-second clip.

The original "Point Break" starred Keanu Reeves and the late Patrick Swayze as Johnny Utah and Bodhi, where Utah joins Bodhi's crew to investigate who is behind the different bank heists in Southern California. The remake carries the same names and retains the plot of the original but adds just a tad bit more by putting it in the world theater and adding all the extreme sports. Airows called it the "Fast and Furious" of extreme sports instead of cars, and given that they add the campiness vibe of the original, it could work just as well as the car racing franchise.

Though the trailer is overtly exciting in every second, there are naysayers on the upcoming remake. The Washington Post explained that the 90's camp classic worked because it circulated with the surfer-grunge vibe that emanated from the 90's, which is quite out of the loop now. Hopefully the remake, starring Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez as Utah and Bodhi, respectively, and Teresa Palmer as Tyler, the love interest of Utah, reaches the requirements of the fans.

The "Point Break" trailer does not promise anything as of the moment, and there is still plenty of time until the remake hits theaters on Christmas Day. Fans of the original can only hope that it lives up to its name as a remake and be self-aware that it can do better by making fun of itself, just like the original did.
