Baidu's co-founder and CEO Robin Li announced in the Lenovo Tech World conference that Baidu will be including many new features in its next release. He went on to demonstrate many of those features himself, on the stage.
The first thing, which Li displayed, was the translation service in which he used an example of ordering food at a Korean restaurant. He took a picture of a Korean Menu, made it go through the translation service and the translated menu could be seen in Chinese language, states Tom's Hardware. This is a much-needed service for all those who need to research foreign languages and do not have an understanding of the language at all.

There were some issues with vocal translations, but he said that the company is working on resolving the issue. It is expected that the vocal translation would soon offer a seamless experience to the customer in the near future.
The second service that was demonstrated was a very impressive feature which Baidu is planning to add in its search engine. Just like Apple's Siri or Microsoft's Cortana, the user will now be able to speak directly to the search engine of the phone and the intuitive service will in turn ask some further natural questions from the system and get back results for the user. This is a boon for all those who are hard-pressed for time and need instant search results on-the-go.
The third and the final service which Li demonstrated is currently being used in the earthquake hit Kathmandu, to restore historic monuments. In this service, millions of people uploaded pictures of the monuments before they were destroyed, and Baidu pieces them together and renders a 3D model from these picture to construct a realistic picture of the monuments. This effort is so far very successful in restoring the historical monuments in Nepal, according to Topix.
Baidu is the largest search engine in the entire China, but it still does not get much of fan following in other countries despite its extensive efforts to grow in this industry. Inclusion of improved maps and search capabilities will certainly help the Chinese customer base of Baidu, but it needs to market out its product in other countries to attract new customers.
