The track was leaked earlier, but it wouldn't be available for digital download until July 30, its official release.
The upbeat song is said to be a catchy tune fit for the summer season with Hilary appearing in the music video in a two-piece bikini, filmed at the beach.
The almost three-minute video is all about escaping one's tedious daily life and getting out to unwind.
Hilary shared her thoughts on the song, saying, "'Chasing the Sun' is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree."
She announced the track's title after signing a contract with RCA Records.
'Chasing the Sun' was co-written by singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, who just released her own single 'Try', Toby Gad and Jason Reeves.
"I couldn't be more excited to join the RCA family! I came to them with my vision for the album and it has been a real labor of love, but something I am so proud of," Hilary told a media outlet before the release of her new music video.
The pop singer said she has worked hard for the upcoming album for it to become an image of what her past experiences brought her as well as where she wanted to be in the future from where she is presently.
On the interview, she also touched on the subject of the reasons behind her hiatus. Hilary pointed out that her break from the music industry was a way for her to carefully think and choose her plans and the next steps she would be taking.
