Taking home a back-to-back win is 39-year-old actress Zhao Wei, who bagged another Best Actress Award for the 2014 film "Dearest." Her first recognition for the said movie was at the Hong Kong Film Awards in April. ECNS.cn deemed Wei as the biggest winner at the 16th Huading Awards, also held on Hong Kong, in May 31. She bested other nominees including, Gong Li, Tang Wei, and Gao Yuanyuan.

Wei expressed her deepest gratitude to "Dearest" director Peter Chan, who also won Best Director for the film. She was in all praises of Chan's "bold creativity" and of his trust in her to play the part of a widow who became a foster mother to a trafficked young boy. In an article posted by Women of China, Wei also added that she never imagined she is capable of portraying a character based on real events.
Based on true accounts of the kidnapping cases in China, "Dearest" revolves around the story of a young boy who was abducted from his family. In a play by fate, the abductor's widow, played by Wei, also lost her foster daughter. She and the boy's parents both go on years of tireless journey to get their beloved children back.
Despite the many recognitions and business success, Wei refuses to be called by netizens "a winner in life." Actress, pop singer, and film director, Wei always puts emphasis on the hard work she puts in her career and all the sacrifices she had to make over the years.
Aside from Wei, many names also flourished during the awards night. Notable of which was Taiwan-based actor and husband of Wei's contender Gao Yuanyuan, Mark Chao who won the Best Actor for the action movie "Black & White: The Dawn of Justice." However, Chao was unable to personally receive the award due to an injury, Yahoo! Singapore reports. Hollywood A-list actor Adrien Brody won Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Dragon Blade" alongside action superstar Jackie Chan.
Concluding the awards night at the Kowloonbay International Trade and Exhibition Center was "Dearest" securing the Best Picture. Huading Awards was established in 2007 to give recognition to excellent showbiz players as determined by surveys.
