Anderson Silva is coming back to the octagon early next year facing former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) Welterweight champion Nick Diaz.
UFC president Dana White announced Silva's return on ESPN's "SportsCenter" Tuesday saying that the matchup will headline a pay-per-view UFC 183 event scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on Jan. 31, 2015.

Both Silva and Diaz have not fought since last year. Diaz (26-9) retired after losing the UFC Welterweight championship in a unanimous decision against Georges St-Pierre. He announced a comeback after signing a three-fight contract with UFC last July 24.
Silva (33-6), on the other hand, is coming back after a freak injury he sustained during his last fight against Chris Weidman. Silva broke his tibia and fibula in the fight, and lost the middleweight belt in the process.
The Brazilian, Silva, was immediately operated on by orthopedic surgeons to stabilize his tibia by inserting a titanium rod into his left leg and his fibula was reset. Dr. Steven Sanders, the operating surgeon, said that Silva is expected to make a full recovery in six to nine months.
Silva is widely known as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time and is the greatest UFC fighter in the world during his six-year reign as middleweight champion.
