As an interim member of the Buffalo Bills' coaching staff, Hall of Famer Andre Reed knows what he is talking about when it comes to scrutinizing the talent of today's modern crop of wide receivers.

Why? Because he had been a wide receiver himself, suiting up for 16 NFL seasons, playing 15 of those for the Bills.

And, take note, Reed is not just your average wide receiver.

He is actually one of the best when it comes to playing this position, ranking almost at the pinnacle of every NFL career statistical category for wideouts. He is 10th all-time in overall career receptions (951), ninth all-time in overall career receiving yards (13,198), 11th all-time in overall career touchdown receptions (87), and went over one thousand yards four times in his magnificent 16-year career. The former Kutztown Golden Bears standout also played in four successive Super Bowls from 1991 to 1994 and seven successive Pro Bowls from 1988 to 1994.

Reed was recently hired by Bills management to become a temporary training camp and preseason coach, specifically for their pass catchers, as reported by SB Nation's Brian Galliford. And immediately, his presence was felt by Buffalo's wideout mainstays.

"I just want to be that guy that they can talk to," Reed told Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News. "What I bring to the table is I've been there; they know that. And I think, whatever experience I can bring to them to make them better every day, that's what it's about."

More importantly, Reed acknowledged that the Bills' current group of wide receivers are "potentially" the best in the NFL right now.

Buffalo acquired two fiery wide receivers in the offseason, as per CBS Sports' Jared Dubin. They are Clemson's Sammy Watkins during the recent draft, and former New York Jet Percy Harvin, which they signed for a one-year, $6 million deal. This tandem is what Reed was taking about.

However, Reed was quick to caution that properly filling in the quarterback position is a more important task fo

Of course, not everyone would agree with Reed's observations. But right now, the Bills are going to be okay with that.

Buffalo's management for his team's wideouts to reach the top of their game.
