Is Google jumping into the realm of virtual reality in a big way? It appears so after the company announced what it calls Jump, which is all about giving content creators the ability to create content for VR devices.
With virtual reality being pushed in a big way with the Oculus Rift and other VR devices, content creators will need a way to support these devices in the best way possible and Google is hoping to open those doors with Jump.

Jump gives folks the ability to create unique virtual reality content that can be consumed by millions of Internet users around the world. According to Google, during its I/O conference, YouTube will support VR in the summer, and Jump will be a huge part of the equation to get content creators on board.
Google has created some impressive demos showcasing the technology, but only time will tell if they will work as intended.
So far, the company has announced that GoPro will be the first to market with a Jump related hardware. The device will have 16 GoPro cameras attached to it that can record content at the same time in order to create a virtual reality world. This is said to be very impressive and should it take off as Google could be the company that brings virtual reality into the mainstream.
It is said that if content creators on YouTube stand behind Jump and virtual reality overall, then people could be in for a new era of entertainment on the popular video platform, and also on the web overall.
Users love to see what else Google plans to do with Jump because it comes off as very attractive. So far, it only supports the company's Cardboard virtual reality headset but many perople are guessing that in the future, it will support any virtual reality headset.
Now it is time to see what Facebook aims to do with Oculus VR where the social network is concerned because users have yet to see a single thing.
