Jospeh Gordon-Levitt brings his French on and embodies the high-flying Philippe Petit in the newest trailer for "The Walk."

Following the 2008 documentary about Petit and his attempt to cross the harrowing gap between the two towers of the World Trade Center back in 1974, the trailer is all sorts of awesome. The Academy Award-winning documentary used reenactments to show the walks and flashbacks on how they established the wire between the two. Slate narrates how the setting up the dangerous and illegal act was corroborated with disguises and fake IDs - perfect for a Hollywood heist movie, which, as the trailer showed, was openly applied to the movie by Academy Award-winning director, Robert Zemeckis.

Joining Gordon-Levitt and Zemeckis are James Badge Dale, César Domboy, Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Schwartz, Clément Sibony, and Ben Kingsley as Petit's real-life mentor, Papa Rudy. The movie will open on Oct. 2, 2015, but Coming Soon stated that the high-flying heist film has been selected to be shown on the opening night of the 53rd Annual New York Film Festival.

The movie, set in 1974 New York, tells the story of a Frenchman who aspired to cross the gap between the two towers of the World Trade Center. With a band of recruits and the help of his mentor, they go through rigorous trials, both internal and external, before finally attempting to make the walk. The movie is an ode not only to 1970s New York, but to the long-gone Twin Towers.

The trailer is good fodder to incite excitement to moviegoers everywhere, since not only does it illustrate the quirky elements of a heist movie, but it encapsulates the feeling of vertigo and stimulate the fear of heights in everyone. It does not help that Geek Tyrant reports that the movie has been shot in IMAX 3D and used photorealistic techniques and innovations, so expect moviegoers to come out of the cinemas afraid of heights.
