Nanjing Bus Company was left in awe after seeing that 24 of their newly built bus stops, each of which contained three-meter high columns, and a four-meter wide billboard, were nowhere to be seen after a single night.
A complaint was received by Nanjing Bus Company stating that they had demolished the bus stops which had been constructed along Jiang Bei Road.

Inspectors were immediately dispatched to the site of the incident where it was discovered that there were craters beside the road, and only one bus stop still standing with twenty four others gone.
Originally, Nanjing Bus Company had planned on building 60 bus stops along Jiang Bei Road. The first phase of the project was the 25 bus stops.
According to authorities, as the bus stops were constructed simultaneously with Jiang Bei Road, no traffic lights had yet been installed. This may have led people in the area to believe that those removing the poles were construction workers instead of suspects carrying out an illegal act.
Officials have stated that it's possible the thieves used cutting equipment and they may be experts in the use of such technology.
Kou, a master in renovation work, said that thieves used a diesel generator with four small cutters attached to it. When operated by six or seven people, it would take only 20 minutes to cut one kiosk.
Another official revealed that each bus stop weighs about 400 pounds and is made of stainless steel.
With the disappearance of the 24 bus stops, Nanjing has suffered a total loss of about RMB1.4M and reconstruction of the stalls will reportedly incur them much more than that.
The identity of the thief/thieves remains a mystery and Nanjing Bus Company continues to be baffled by the event.
Following the incident, police and other authorities are conducting routine patrols in the area in hopes of preventing other large-scale theft.
