Breathing life to the spectacular world of romance-fantasy novel "Sansheng Sanshi Shili Taohua" is Oscar winner and "Spider Man 2" visual effects artist Anthony LaMolinara. According to an article by China Daily, LaMolinara is tasked to lead a design team from Hollywood that will create a world where the sky and the ocean serve as the backdrop of an epic love story.

During a press conference in Beijing, LaMolinara expressed his enthusiasm to be part of the production. He further added that he has long been interested in China and its prospect of achieving a "renaissance" in the film industry. For LaMolinara, being part of the said movement is an honor, Global Times reported.
Roughly translated as "Ten-Mile Peach Blossom of Three Lifetimes," the film is an adaptation of an online fantasy novel that revolves around the complicated world and romance of a female fox spirit who is 140,000 years old and a male black dragon spirit who is 50,000 years old. Since its release on one of China's biggest literature websites in 2008, the novel has reached an overwhelming popularity among young girls.
According to China Daily, the online romance sensation was written by an author with the pseudonym Tangqi Gongzi. From being published on Jjwxc.net, the novel was printed by Shenyang Press in 2009. Its solid following resulted in 1.1 million copies sold.
Prior to the fantasy film, LaMolinara has experienced working on a film production in China. In 2010, he took on the director's seat for the live action film adaptation of anime classic "Bubblegum Crisis." In a report by Anime News Network, LaMolinara started the shoot at the Hengdian World Studios in Zhejiang, China.
The adaptation of Ten-Mile Peach is Alibaba Pictures' foray into the expansion of online platform companies to the big screen industry. CEO Zhiang Qiang sees the huge potential for success due to the Internet novel's huge fanbase. He even announced plans to encourage the fans' involvement from start to end of the production. From screening the script to recruiting actors, fans are given the prerogative to decide.
"We'll create the best visual effects and have a big budget to hire the top talents," China Daily quoted Zhang saying.
