An 89-year-old man from Sacramento, Calif. was arrested Friday night for allegedly murdering his 83-year-old wife. He has been charged with murder, said the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
The man, identified as Masaharu Ono, is now held in jail after authorities suspected him of killing his own wife. The arrest came after Ono called authorities and reported that he found his wife's body inside their apartment in Block 8600 of Florin Road in Sacramento, officials said.

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department said that Masaharu Ono had been booked into the Sacramento County Jail. He was retained under a single count of murder, according to the Associated Press.
The arrest on Friday occurred after Sacramento County Sheriff's Department detectives went to the couple's apartment on Florin Road in response to an emergency call. After reaching the couple's home, they reportedly assessed the circumstances which could have led to the death of Ono's wife inside their apartment.
When deputies arrived, Ono's wife was already dead inside the home, reported The Sacramento Bee. A preliminary investigation concluded that the woman died from suspicious injuries, said deputies.
After the investigation, "it was determined the victim had injuries which contributed to her death that were suspicious in nature," according to the Sheriff's Department.
Later, a homicide team held Masaharu Ono responsible for his wife's death. Ono is "ultimately responsible for the murder," according to the department.
Ono's is held at the Sacramento County Main Jail with no possibility of a bond, according to KCRA. The victim was identified by the Sacramento coroner's office as Hiroko Ono. Masaharu Ono will be making his first appearance in court on the case Tuesday.
In April, a murder-suicide occurred in Carson where an elderly man also killed his wife and then himself. The couple, married for 55 years, were identified as Roy and Lucille Wills. Authorities were able to enter the house after an hours-long standoff, but the couple was already dead, reported ABC 7.
In January, a Northern California man shot himself after shooting his wife as well as his two grown children in another murder-suicide. The crime took place at the family's home on New Year's Day and police said the man was facing problems. While the man's daughter had been discovered alive, she later died even after surgery, according to Yahoo.
