June 7 wrapped it up for the 69th annual Tony Awards this 2015 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, according to The Guardian. With the full list of winners now out (see below for full list), it appears this year is the year of women and British plays as they took just about all of the awards.

The event was hosted by actor Alan Cumming and actress Kristin Chenoweth. Even as the pair put on an amazing show with their funny banters, it was clear that the night was focused on the winners and the shows, and all eyes were on them, reported Us Magazine.

Being the perfect hosts and practiced Broadway veterans, Cumming and Chenoweth were able to fill breaks with a host of performances. When it came to the shows however, the duo stepped aside so the spotlight would land on the shows and performers.

Of the lot of winners, "Fun Home" nabbed the most victories. It won Best Musical prize and leading man Michael Cerveris became victorious in his category.

"Fun Home" is based on the graphic memoir of Alison Bechdel, about her lesbian personality and the suicide of her closeted father. The musical's victory is not only a victory for the show itself but a historic moment for women as well. Best Original Score also went to Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori, the first ever writing team composed of women, according to TIME.

Part of Tesori 's speech mentioned that a "career in music was available to women," and said that the song "Ring of Keys" from "Fun Home" "is not a song of love it's a song of identification, because for girls you have to see it to be it."

Another triumph for women is Best Direction won by Marianne Elliott for "Play for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time."

And finally, what can be described one of the most delightful moments of the evening is when Kelli O'Hara, who had been nominated countless times but had never won a Tony, was awarded for "The King and I." Her victory saw a standing ovation and a post-worthy dance on stage as she announced, "I'm going to do the worm."
