E -commerce is taking the world of marketing by storm, and smartphone providers are taking advantage of this thriving business by creating their own payment kiosks online.
Recently, Samsung announced their latest innovation called Samsung Pay, an application that allow users to pay online for their purchases. According to JK Shin, CEO of IT & Mobile Communications for Samsung electronics, Samsung Pay will revolutionize the way people use their smartphones aside from texting, calling and browsing. In its expansive coverage, Samsung Pay is predicted to be used by more than 30 million merchants and stores around the globe. Where security is concerned, the payment kiosk is powered by non other than Samsung's own security policy (SAMSUNG KNOX). Ed McLaughlin of Mastercard said, "The security and simplicity we were able to deliver through our digital enablement service is rapidly changing the way our consumers shop. We are excited to work with Samsung, as they deliver Samsung Pay to consumers around the globe."
According to Samsung, this simple and fast online payment require consumers to register their card and follow the few easy steps to sync it with Samsung Pay. Once registered, the consumer will only have to swipe and choose the type of payment they want and the card to use before they can be validated, through their fingerprints for a more secure online purchase.
Samsung Pay is not the first mobile phone manufacturer that offers this type of service, as in October 2014, the giant smartphone maker Apple released their own version of online payment service called the Apple Pay. Samsung is following suit after its successful launching and millions of users.
In May 2015, Apple's CEO Tim Cook visited China to introduce the service, securing a meeting with Alibaba and Chinese banks for possible tie ups in the future.
The launching of Samsung Pay will be accompanied subsequently by Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
