The "out of control" officer sparked controversy over racial discrimination and police handling of black people after he was captured on video pulling out his gun to subdue teenagers at a pool party in a Dallas suburb. He was also filmed forcing a bikini-clad 14-year-old to the ground during the confrontation. He was heard cursing throughout the video as well. Most of the teenagers were African American.

The Texas officer was first put on administrative leave following the incident.

However, because of the way Casebolt handled the situation, the video sparked national conversation about how police officers handle black people during confrontation, reported The Independent.

Critics also railed at the white officer for cursing at the teenagers and hurting a teenage girl, Dajerria Becton, by slamming her to the ground, as well as pulling out his gun, according to CNN.

On Monday, people rallied in protest to the officer's actions. Parents and community activists wanted Casebolt fired.

According to Bishkin, as told to the Associated Press, her client received death threats following the release of the Texas pool party video.

Meanwhile, another rally took place at the McKinney Police Department after the announcement of Casebolt's resignation, according to Fox4News.

The rally was attended by religious and civic leaders as well as ordinary citizens who expressed their relief following Casebolt's resignation and the dropping of charges against the single teen arrested in the incident.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley released a statement to reporters on Tuesday, saying that Casebolt had been "out of control" in his response to the teenagers at the pool party last week.

"He came into the call out of control and as the video shows was out of control during the incident," said Conley. "I had 12 officers on the scene, and 11 of them performed according to their training. They did an excellent job."
