(Photo : Reuters/Aly Song) E-Commerce in China has gained strength after the government proposes guidelines that will boost its effect in the country's economy.
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has developed a security software that is now being used by China's authorities to track and shut out illegal foreign technology that tends to threaten China's consumer online security information.
According to Bloomberg, the Alibaba software is directly connected to a police platform from a consumer's point of transaction, making every online action susceptible to the scrutiny of the police department. The operating system is currently applied to ZTE's handsets as part of the country's dry run on the security software. Jack Ma, Alibaba's founder, has been lauded for this innovation and his willingness to participate in the government's effort to take control of foreign technology.

Lu Yu of the Ministry of Public Security's First Research Institute said, "We have to make sure that mobile phones can be totally safe and controllable, and we have to make sure nothing secretly happens to our phones."
ZTE's bold move to incorporate the software to their mobile products, however, has not made any significant impact to other giant smartphone providers in the country because of possible security errors. The U.S. government, on the other hand, urged the Chinese government to follow the protocol of having foreign technology countries to review and approve their security software by submitting their source codes.
Ma has longed to expand his business empire to the United States, and the emergence of this security software could mean a cross border innovation that will also thrive in the west. With the U.S. government questioning the security software, groups are reportedly wary that the powerful country will get the most chunk on business technology in China.
In March 2015, according to ZDNet, Ma introduced a state of the art way of paying for goods online, using your face. The app, called Smile to Pay, captures your face using your mobile gadgets, after which the collected data will pass through a detection system. Once your identity is confirmed, you can press the confirm button to approve payment. The mobile app is Ant Financial, an affiliate of the Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., for the primary exclusive use of Alipay online payment service and Alipay wallet.
