Homer And Marge Splitting - It appears Homer and Marge, the long-standing couple in the famous animated sitcom "The Simpsons," are headed for divorce. According to Al Jean, the show's executive producer, the legal separation will begin as the show opens in September.
"In the premiere, it's discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy (a sleep disorder) and it's an incredible strain on the marriage," Al Jean told a Variety interview published early this week featuring details on the show's 27th season.

"Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by ("Girls" creator and star) Lena Dunham," he added.
Though appearing on Variety, the news of Homer and Marge splitting was reportedly not picked up on widely, reported CNN.
However, because the official Twitter account of the "The Simpsons" tweeted the link to the interview, fans were urged to know more about Al Jean's teasers for the upcoming season of the show.
Despite wide speculation that Homer and Marge were indeed splitting, it appears Al Jean only made a late April fools prank.
Five hours following the Al Jean tweet, the account posted Bart Simpson writing in classroom blackboard, "Homer and Marge are not breaking up."
On Wednesday, writers also made a new tweet, "RT and stop the rumors!"
The news of Homer and Marge splitting isn't the only shocking news announced by the show recently. Over the weekend, an Entertainment Weekly report came out that Bart, Homer and Marge's son, will be killed in the upcoming season.
According to the EW report, Bob, the evil sidekick of Krusty the Clown, will be dispatching Bart.
"I (hate) frustration comedy so we'll scratch that itch," Jean told EW.
However, the episode of Bart's death will reportedly take place during the show's Halloween episode, which meant Bart Simpson still has a chance to be revived.
"The Simpsons" is the longest-running scripted series in U.S. television history, according to the AFP, as Fox made an announcement last month that the series will have two more seasons under its belt. "The Simpsons" averages 7.7 million viewers.
Season 27 is set to air on Fox September 27, according to CNET.
