Even Tech giants need a good press release when it comes to promoting their products. Regardless whether the company intend to sell or produce, an organization exist for a reason and that is to make a sale, said reports.
This is not the case for Huawei's PR representative. In an article published in TechInAsia, a glitch in a government organized tour for the media landed the giant phone manufacturer in hot water because of the way they responded to inquiries from the media people. The first case of their failed PR is Huawei's attempt to prohibit journalists from taking pictures inside the premises for security reasons.

With that being understood by the journalists, they then proceed to ask about Huawei's ties to the government, to which they did not get any answer or comment about it. It was also during the tour that they were served with the worst scenario, wherein, the journalists were not allowed to publish any stories about the giant company in any of their articles and to keep the name of their tour guide confidential. Will all that confusion, a journalist asked why were they invited in the first place when they can't even disclose any from the said tour, to which they get a curt answer of, "we didn't invite you. It was the government that invited you, and now you should leave."
According to Australia's Financial Review, the tech giant, despite their global campaign for recognition, they are still the "paranoid and secretive organization" they always have been. The AFR couldn't help but compare Huawei's PR approach to that of Shanghai Green Valley Pharmaceutical Company, wherein, Lu Songtao, Chairman of the company, embarked on a 15 minute presentation about the business and spent almost 30 minutes answering questions and inquiries from the media. In one of his statements, he said, "We have obtained lots of subsidies from the government. Without the support of the government we could not have achieved what we have so far."
Comparison between the two giant companies was inevitable and expected with AFR indicating how paranoid Huawei is compared to how Green Valley said everything there is to know by its consumers.
