Gaokao, China's standardized college entrance examination, is set to test the capability of 9.5 million students in the country.
According to TechInAsia, this could mean the end of education perceived in school as it will determine who are capable of moving forward and continue their college education, and those who will be left behind. Tech companies, on the other hand, took advantage of the said examination and collaborated with authorities to come up with a solution of making the examination reviewer online. Tech giants such as Tencent, GaoKao Bibei, Zhao Mingshi, Shuafen Liqi and New Oriental have organized their own version of the Gaokao exam in their websites.

In a survey made by Techweb, out of 145 parents, whose children are taking the Gaokao exams, only 5.5 percent of them confirmed that their children were indeed using the online learning module, whereas 27.6 percent relied on sending their kids to a remedial class. About 72.4 percent of them admitted that they have not encouraged or sent their kids to any of these online learning modules or attend a remedial class in preparation for the examination. When asked why they haven't encouraged their children to do so, they pointed out that their kids attend their school six days a week for the run up examination, and it would be a struggle for them to insist they attend a remedial class or expand their knowledge by signing up online.
The parents also questioned the capability of an online education to answer and deliberate all of the student's inquiries. While it may seem cheaper and can easily be accessed, online studies can only do so much and the presence of a teacher is reportedly still as valuable and important to the parents of the students.
In an attempt by Techweb to fully understand the parent's sentiments, they also asked if the parents "knew anything about online education," 74 percent of them answered "no," 16.6 percent said they have not tried it, although they have heard about it while 10 percent said they know about the online education.
To this day, Yuan Tiku, an online provider of the test application, has recorded a number of 30 million registered students from highschool.
