Asana has released an Apple iOS app that makes things easier for groups collaborating on projects and also helps individuals focus on more essential tasks.

Asana redesigned its iOS app to focus more on creating an experience that will help desktops become more functional. The new iOS app replaces the previous app that had limited functionality.

Asana is a web and mobile application designed to enable teamwork without email.

"Almost none of the code from those previous apps survived this. It really is a new experience that allows you to know what work needs to be done and who is responsible for what," said Justin Rosenstein, co-founder of Asana.

The new app lets users collaborate on projects so they can easily change any part of their plans, prioritize tasks, add up new tasks and develop meeting agendas directly from the app and automatically sync the changes in real time with its desktop version.

It also helps users plan their working days and manage their to-do lists while giving emphasis on email.

The redesigned Asana is a combination of project management, file storage, calendars and a collaboration tool.

The basic Asana service is free for a group of 15 members. Asana costs US$50 monthly for small groups that avail of the premium service with privacy and support.

For larger groups with more than 15 members, Asana charges US$100 monthly.

Currently, the redesigned Asana is only available at the iTunes App Store.

Rosenstein said they're working on a similar updated Android app
