Coroners Reveal "The Notebook" star James Garner Died of Heart Attack

James Garner, three- time Golden Globe winner, died last July 19 but it was only this Wednesday that the reason for his death was revealed. Coroners announced that the cause of his death was a massive heart attack. The star of 'The Notebook' had died due to acute myocardial infarction.

Garner's death certificate also showed he suffered from coronary artery disease. Garner, 86, was reported to have a lot of health complications when he was still alive. It was said that Garner smoked most of his life. He also suffered from a stroke back in 2008. Also, in 1988, he had a series of heart bypass surgeries.
Garner's death certificate was filed in the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Heath on Tuesday and obtained by editors at TMZ.com.
James Garner starred in a lot of famous movies such as 'Maverick' and the 70s hit Series 'The Rockford Files.' His earlier movies were more of the action genre but the latest, 'The Notebook', was more on a serious note. He was in the movie acting as Ryan Gosling's older version and played the role of Duke.
Tweets about him passing away came first from the movie's directors and co- actors. First of the tweets which acknowledged his death was from Director Ron Howard. He tweeted, "RIP James Garner. Admired by all who knew him." Another tweet was from actress Marlee Matlin, who tweeted that she couldn't sleep after learning about Garner's death.
Garner was born in Oklahoma. He was married to Lois Clarke back in 1956 and they had a daughter named Greta 'Gigi' Garner who is now 56 years old.
