The testing of China's fourth Hypersonic Nuclear Delivery Vehicle was dubbed by the U.S. government as an "excessive maneuver," given the tension between the two countries.

According to RT, the Chinese Defense Ministry confirmed this move by saying, "The scheduled scientific research and experiments in our territory is normal, and those tests are not targeted at any country or specific goals." The U.S. labeled the warship as "WU-14," and is known to be China's fourth testing of such missile in a span of 18 months. While the U.S. thinks of this as a threat, the pending visit of vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission Fan Changlong is said to be the reason of the test as an added feather to the country's cap in their efforts to make a deal with their U.S. partners.

Although analysts say that the plane was created mainly as a defensive aircraft, the U.S. government thinks otherwise and doubted that the powerful country will use this for other purposes. China has since downplayed the issues about the aircraft's purpose, saying it is merely created to defend the country and not to create offense against any other country.

According to ValueWalk, the Hypersonic Nuclear Delivery Vehicle is said to travel up to 10 times the speed of sound. The U.S. defense ministry's concern is the aircraft's ability to penetrate the U.S. missile defense systems.

It can be noted that the U.S. government has recently raised their concern over China's aggressiveness on claiming parts of the South China Sea, despite owning most of the territory where geographical maps are concerned. The reclamation areas where the Philippine territory lies has been one of the major concerns about China, claiming more than their own. Japan has also expressed their opposition regarding this move. In their efforts to raise their concerns directly with the Chinese government, the U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter requested to stop the reclamation and cease any military actions within the Philippine sovereignty. He also encouraged the country to follow the international rules on disputed islands and to request for peace talks regarding the territorial dispute.
