Before anything else: no, Captain America will not host the BBC show "Top Gear."
Chris Evans, a TV and radio personality more known in the UK, will be the new host for the highly-rated BBC car show "Top Gear." The 49-year old was reported by TIME to have signed a three-year contract with the network, as replacement for Jeremy Clarkson after assaulting a producer and was subsequently fired a few months after.

Though he is no Steve Rogers, he does have relatively full credentials enough to warrant the attention of BBC execs. Not only does he have popular TV radio and TV shows in the UK, he also has his own media company, which he sold for quite a fortune, which in turn fueled his subsequent love for cars.
This love for cars, among other things, made him top pick to host the BBC show. In fact, The Guardian reports that in every previous hosting job he has handled, he manages to inject cars every way he can. He is also used to running a studio with a crowd-like audience, much like how the "Top Gear" studio is structured.
However, the TV and radio personality cannot host this mammoth of a show alone, and since Richard Hammond and James May are also reportedly not returning, rumors are flying around that a woman will replace the two as his co-presenter. The Telegraph claims that top contenders are former Formula One correspondent Suzi Perry and former model Jodie Kidd; however, Evans does have the final say on who the show will take in, since aside from hosting he is playing the role of executive producer as well. He did quip that he wants someone quite knowledgeable in cars. As producer, he also has a say in further changes of the show, including the addition of segments or changing them, which he eventually plans to do with the "Star In A Reasonably Priced Car" feature.
2016 marks the return of "Top gear" to BBC, and whatever happens to the show, despite the lack of Jeremy Clarkson and company, fans will surely flock back to watch and enjoy the segments all the same.
