Yes, Matilda has become an Internet sensation, according to Yahoo News.

Her huge darkened eyes made her look like a moggie from the Red Planet. The looks may persuade us, but the truth is she was born in an undisclosed small town, Daily Mail has learned.

Sorry folks but this cat is not a Martian. However, you may still find this feline really interesting, so we have listed five must-know cat facts (purely about Matilda).

1. Matilda could be a grey tiger.

From what breed did Matilda come from wasn't exactly revealed. However, by looking at her physical characteristics, it can be assumed that she belongs to the Tabbies.

Tabby cats have distinctive coating features of stripes, lines, swirling patterns or dots. The name for each Tabby Patterns are classified based on these features.

2. Matilda has Lens Luxation.

This is disease wherein, the right and left lenses of Matilda have voluntarily detached. This incident caused blindness to the cat.

The opinion of Dr. Matthew Fife, a Veterinary Ophthalmologist working in an animal center in Orlando, Florida, was collected. The veterinarian, who did not treat the cat, said that this disease is usually a result of another disease that went inside the eyes, ABC News reported.

Following the discussion with an animal ophthalmologist, her human companions have decided that they will not let Matilda undergo a surgery. As it appears, it wouldn't be much of any help.

She is collagen deficient, according to the vet, which means that she will have problems in healing if she's wounded or if she undergoes any surgeries.

3. Matilda is a "love month" baby.

This fluffy cat was born in February 2013. After she was born in a hoarder house, she was immediately picked up by the rescue society.

Her servants, who identified themselves as "The Bearded Man" and "The Lady," then adopted her.

Just out of curiosity, is her birth date the reason why she's wearing a collar with a purple heart pendant?

4. Matilda is not alone.

Following her first birthday, her servants noticed that the pupil in her right eye became enlarged and never went back to normal. They decided to contact the rescue society.

It was found out that her siblings had developed the same condition. The rescue society, who came to her aid, told "The Bearded Man" and "The Lady" that they have been trying to locate Matilda.

5. Matilda is a survivor.

It was revealed that she was born with normal eyes. However, as she grew older, one of her eyes started to squint. As time passed, her condition got worse.

A couple of days ago, she lost her vision. After having another check up, it was confirmed that she's not in pain and not suffering from glaucoma.

The fluffy cat is on medication to keep her eyes functioning. However, eventually, she will have to go into surgery to remove her eyes.

She's not going to have this surgery now, but her owners hope they can put away some funds to be readily available when needed.
