Korean Variety Show ‘Dream Team’ Confirmed For Remake, Chinese And Thai Production Teams To Join Forces On Spin-Off

Korea's renowned variety show "Dream Team", which ran from the year 1999 to 2003, is set to come back to the television screen. Chinese and Thai production teams are set to work on the spin-off that is also said to include a few Korean idols.
"Dream Team" was a sports themed variety show in Korea, which aired for six long years. Well-known cast members included Eun Hyuk of Super Junior, Taemin of Shinee, Hwang Changsung of 2PM, and Minhho.

In a report by Soompi, an affiliate of KBS would be working on the Korean-Chinese remake. "Dream Team" spin-off would have 10 episodes. Four of the episodes would be aired in Korea and China. As for the Korean-Thai remake, "Dream Team" would air 13 episodes, three of which would be shown in Korea.
Filming for the remake is said to begin by July 22 and 23, where it would take place in Korea. Chinese producers of the show had originally planned to head out to Korea this June to film the show. Yet, the MERS outbreak had caused a hindrance in the delay of shoot. In addition to the delays, the production crew had difficulties in gathering Chinese stars for the show.
As for the Korean stars to join the remake, reports claim that a number of Korean idols have been offered the part in the variety show. These include CNBLUE's Jung Yonghwa, FTISLAND's Lee Hongki, 2PM's Chansung and Nichkhun, EXO's Xiumin, Super Junior's Eunhyuk, SHINee's Minho, 2AM's Jo Kwon and Jinwoon, Brown Eyed Girls' Ga In, IU of "The Producers", and EXID's Hani.
The remake of "Dream Team" in China is said to air by August 23 in Korea and by August 22 in China. As for the Thai-Korea remake, filming will begin by Sept. Idols for the said Thai-Korean spin-off has yet to be mentioned.
With another Korean variety show remake, "Dream Team" is sure to be a huge hit in China and Thailand. Based on comments made on various reports of the "Dream Team" remake, fans are already eager for the pilot episode to air. Other Korean shows that have been remade into Chinese shows include "I Am a Singer" and "Running Man."
