Firstpost reports that this new Kindle will be available at $119 for the WiFi with special offers variant, and $189 for the WiFi and 3G variant. The latest Paperwhite boasts more than twice the resolution of its predecessors, allowing for sharper text quality and a read that's easier on the eyes. Adding to its user-friendly features is Bookerly, Amazon's new font, which it believes will help readers see the flow of text more smoothly. All these changes mean that this device can now officially compete against Amazon's flagship Kindle Voyager, with the latter's only edge being its adaptive front-light.

Amazon also introduced a new typesetting engine, according to TechRadar. The engine helps the device lay out the pages just as the author intended it to. This is good news for authors looking for improved control on their screen layout. The e-book company claims that even despite the new Kindle Paperwhite's higher resolution display and improved layout quality, the device should still have enough battery life to last for weeks.

When it comes to the displayed text itself, the new Kindle Paperwhite offers more logical hyphenation and sensible spacing between lines and paragraphs, further facilitating excellent reading experience.Other text features include kerning, justification, and ligatures.

Kindle Paperwhite also comes with Page Flip, a feature which allows readers to skim by the page, or by chapters, or even get to the ending before reading the entire thing. Page Flip allows all these actions without causing the readers to lose track of the pages they're actually reading.

Even when the user is reading the Paperwhite in bright sunlight, the screen does not reflect off the sun's rays, so the device reads just like paper. In contrast, most tablets read like parchment sealed in a glass case. Moreover, unlike back-lit tablets that assault the reader's eyes in the dark, the new Paperwhite actually guides the light towards the surface of the display, thanks to its built-in front light.
