After a man filed a lawsuit against famous Chinese actress Zhao Wei for staring at him too intensely, a recent report said the Shanghai court denied the lawsuit against Wei. The man said the famous star stared at him intensely through a drama on TV, according to thepaper.cn.

The incident took place last week, and it appears the man just had too much time on his hands when he put Zhao in hot water over the alleged damage she had done.

In the complaint, the 39-year-old actress was sued by the man for staring at him with big eyes through the TV screen, according to Legal Daily. The man said the actress had caused him undue "spiritual damage" after she stared at him.

The case filed by the man is not up to par with the standards for litigation and was thus unaccepted by Shanghai's Supreme Court, the court announced during a news conference.

"The judge has persuaded the man not to file a lawsuit, and the man accepted the court's decision," according to Deputy President Gu Weiqiang of the Shanghai Supreme Court.

Earlier this year, China's judiciary system changed regulations. Since then, it had become more difficult for courts to reject lawsuits since they had to provide proper documentation and proof of reasoning before doing so.

The new rule on May 1 came as courts and judiciary officials were suspected of meddling with vital cases. Authorities in China had since become resolute with changing the obstructive and unlawful behavior of the court officials, according to Techly.

However, as much as there are pros in the new rule, there are also cons. It appears there are many people abusing the new regulation, as lawsuits reportedly started jumping to nearly 30 percent in May as compared to the same time the previous year in China.

Another rejected case involves a man claiming a compensation of one yuan after the court allegedly hurt his reputation when judges expelled him for misbehavior as an observer in the court, reported China Daily.

Zhao Wei, the actress sued by the man for her "fierce stare," became one of China's most famous actresses following her role in the TV drama "Princess Huanzhu" in 1998, according to The Rakyat Post.

Fortunately for Wei, court authorities thought the case was a waste of time and resources, and they rejected the case.

As for the man, he had no choice but to accept the court's decision.

Wei currently stars in the primetime TV show "Tiger Mum," where the man saw him. The show is about a Chinese couple with opposing approaches in raising their daughter. Wei plays the strict mother who encourages the child to achieve accomplishments, while the father wants his child to play and explore while young.
