Playstation Now is powered by Gakai, a streaming company purchased by Sony for US$380 million back in 2012. The technology streams games from a remote server directly to any Sony game console or TV.

PS Now will function as a game streaming cloud service where PS4 users can choose and rent from a library of more than 100 games. Players can purchase anywhere from four hours of playing for up to 90 days. Prices start from US$1.99 to US$19.99.

Players are required to have a Sony Entertainment Network Account and a steady broadband internet connection to play.

When it comes to visual experience and game play quality, PS Now will simulate what players are accustomed to when they are playing PS3 games.PS Now will also feature cloud game saves and it will also support other popular network features such as trophies, friends lists and leader boards.

Gamers can play with other players who also have the downloadable version or disc-based version of the game apart from seamlessly playing games online via PS Now.

Sony announced that recent PS3 releases such as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros and Ultra Street Fighter 4 are to be made available at some point in the future . To date, however, there are only 100 games from 50 different publishers.

PlayStation Now Open Beta will arrive at 2014 BRAVIA TVs, Playstation TV and PS Vita.
