Intel is pushing hard to get a piece of the wearables market, as the chip giant went out and purchased another Recon, a company that specializes in making smart goggles.

The deal was announced on Thursday, and it was done without disclosing the amount Intel paid for the company. This purchase came nearly a year after Intel acquired smart watch maker, Basis.

What Intel plans to do here is to integrate these new technologies into its New Devices Group, which was designed to help the chipmaker make moves into the wearables market. What's interesting is the fact that Intel plans to continue selling Recon goggles and aims to create other products in the future.

Recon's knowledge will also be used in other areas on Intel's business, as the company looks to improve its position in the ever changing PC and mobile market.

"The growth of wearable technology is creating a new playing field for innovation, and we've made tremendous strides in developing products and technologies to capture this next wave of computing," according to Josh Walden, senior vice president and general manager in charge of Intel's New Technology Group.

CEO of Recon, Dan Eisenhardt, had the following to say about the acquisition.

"As part of Intel, we'll have the resources to continue the mission we began with the creation of Recon in 2008, but with a level of efficacy and speed that's beyond the reach of a pioneer in a new market. We'll stay right here in Vancouver, and we'll retain our talent, our brand, and our entrepreneurial spirit."

Despite everything Intel has been doing in the past, where wearables are concerned, we have yet to see anything that proves the company knows where it wants to be. We can only hope that with the purchase of Recon and the talent that comes with it, Intel will finally figure out the wearables market
