Emily Blunt dons a bulletproof vest as she finds herself go beyond the Mexican border in the trailer for "Sicario."
The "Edge of Tomorrow" actor stars in this new drug trafficking drama, where she plays FBI agent Kate Macer, who barely understands her mission and gets caught up in a drug war while tracking down a cartel boss. Business Standard reported how the trailer opens with Blunt's character being recruited for a job while she states the fact that this is not her specialty.

Despite Disney's "Into the Woods" being her most recent film, "Sicario" is not her first action-packed drama. The 32-year old actress did play opposite Tom Cruise in "Edge of Tomorrow" just last year and prior to that was "Looper" with Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Slash Film called out the star's breakout film being "The Devil Wears Prada," stating how no one would ever think of her as an action hero.
Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, who play characters Alejandro and Matt, respectively, joins Blunt in her quest to end the drug war in the lawless border between the United States and Mexico. The two-minute trailer has been called terrific and mesmerizing, showing quick cuts of the film, and vaguely explains how the movie goes, putting the audience in Agent Macer's shoes.
The upcoming movie is helmed by Denis Villeneuve, whom the Irish Examiner reported as an exquisite director known for mature masterpieces such as "Prisoners" and "Incendies," so filmgoers can expect this to be one heck of a heavy movie.
Reports said that Blunt was almost replaced by a guy; however, doing so would only solicit normalcy since drugs and police dramas are dime a dozen. Early Cannes Film Festival viewers did mention Blunt's acting was amazing, and along with the added dark feel of the trailer, action movies might soon become a new path for Blunt's career.
