Some people will do anything for love. Indeed, this was proven true by a 20-year-old boy who thought he could fool examiners in the town of Zhetisai in Southern Kazakhstan by posing as his girlfriend.

Kazakh boy Ayan Zhademove, 20, wanted to prove his love to his 17-year-old girlfriend, which is why he dressed up as her to take the the national college entrance exam in the country called the Unified National Testing Exam.

The girlfriend was apparently too nervous and worried to take the exams, and when Zhademove tried to console her, it did not work. Instead, the boy decided to go to the exam himself and take the exam in her place.

If Zhademove passes the test, his girlfriend will be admitted to college in Kazakhstan.

To impersonate the teenage girl, the young man put on a black wig, a white blouse, a gray skirt and some makeup before attempting to go into the exam room in Zhetisai, reported Oddity Central.

Unfortunately for Zhademov, the examiners could not be fooled, and they found out early on that something was amiss. After asking a few questions, his voice quickly betrayed him, according to China Daily.

"He tried speaking in a high voice, but it was obvious this was a male," said a spokesman for the exam board.

Examiners also suspected him because the photo on the identity card he presented looked different from him.

"We suspected it might be another woman that had taken the candidate's place, but we never suspected it was a man that had taken her place. At least not until he started speaking," the speaker added.

Following the incident, Ayan was fined $2,150. But as the story became known in the country, Ayan even became sort of a romantic icon among the youth, according to Wereblog.

He reportedly became so popular that he was nicknamed "romantic of the year." Young girls were even saying they want a boyfriend like Ayan.

"It was stupid but very romantic," said female student Dariga Nesterova. "Sometimes love leads us to do silly things, I wish my boyfriend was this romantic."

"She's lucky to have someone as brave as this, who will risk everything for her," said another student, Goga Korzhova.

Many may have thought the boy to be a hopeless romantic, but local businessman Olzhas Hudaibergenov thought otherwise. He was so touched by the story that he even paid half of Ayan's fine, which cost $1,400.

Hudaibergenov just hoped that such romantic acts would become legal in the future.

"I only hope that his romantic moves in the future will be more legal," Olzhas said in jest.

As for the girl, she would have to take the exams herself the following year.
