Roy Makaay, an ex-Bayern Munich striker, told the Daily Mail.co.uk he will not be surprised if he would see Bastian Schweinsteiger join Manchester United this summer.

With his good relationship with former Bayern Munich and current Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal, Makaay believes it won't be unreal to see him in a Red Devil shirt next season. Van Gaal knows Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller well enough, having served as their mentor when these players were still trying to make a name for themselves.

Although Muller stressed long ago that he was pretty sure he would stay at Bayern, his club and German teammate Schweinsteiger was a bit pessimistic, as he addressed he doesn't know what is going to happen.

However, in the latest news regarding the German star. Lothar Matthaus told the long serving German midfielder that he is allowing him to switch to any top Clubs, if he would like to. Also, he added Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola doesn't need him anymore as his place was already taken by Thigo Alcantara and Xabi Alonso. So, probably it is the right time to move on to another team where he feels he is more worthy.

On the other hand, two other legends Ottmar Hitzfeld and Franz Beckenbauer had a different opinion on the potential move to Man United by Schweinsteiger, suggesting he needs to remain at Bayern Munich where he spent his long career playing there, since 1998 at the age of 14.

"It is hard to adapt to another top European league at his age. He should stay at Bayern, where he can play at the top level for another year or two," Beckenbauer told ESPN FC.

He played 500 appearances in all competitions and captured 8 Bundes Liga titles, 7 German Cup titles and 1 UEFA Champions League title. But the most thrilling moment is when he and his national team Germany won the 2014 FIFA World Cup last summer in Brazil.

While Schweinsteiger is in the position to decide his future, Manchester United kept on finding some more players who can boost their hopes for the next season campaign. It's more likely that he will see the German at Old Trafford next season playing alongside Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick. Several pundits believe Schweinsteiger's wealthy experience and technicality may be the club's long lost key for Louis Van Gaal squad.
