EXO finally beat BIGBANG to grab the first spot at "M! Countdown" on Thursday. The two popular Korean idol groups have been going up against each at various television music programs this month, as BIGBANG released the two songs of A album from MADE series on June 1, and two days later, on June 3, EXO released their repackaged second album "Love Me Right" featuring four new songs. Last week, BIGBANG won the countdown by beating EXO for their single "Bang Bang Bang."

EXO, however, has been on a winning spree when it comes to nabbing the top spot on various television music programs. It also won the top spot at "MBC's Music Core!" beating BIGBANG and SHINee. EXO received 9,562 points in the episode that aired on Saturday, June 20.
After the successful Taiwan concerts, EXO members are now in Thailand for two concerts. The group that originally started with 12 members is now promoting the album with nine members. Luhan and Kris left the group last year, while Tao has not been part of the group's activities since April, though he has been included in EXO's latest merchandize paper toys.
Meanwhile, considered the veteran among the idol groups as they made their debut in 2006, BIGBANG has returned with the new full album as a group after a gap of almost three years, and they are facing competition from the newer idol groups such as EXO (formed in 2011) and SHINee (formed in 2008). G-Dragon of BIGBANG recently suggested that they are a better group compared with EXO and SHINee.
He said that the main difference between their group and EXO and SHINee is that they make their own music. SBS quoted him as saying to the host of JTBC News Room, "We make our own music, and the songs appeal to the public well and the public likes them."
When the host said that EXO's and SHINee's fans may get angry hearing that G-Dragon said, "They could be, but I can't help it because it's the truth." He also said that they are confident because they make their own music, and making music cannot be "unimportant."
"As a musician myself, I wouldn't be confident if I received some other composers' song, because I choose to express myself through the music that I make," he said, as quoted by SBS.
