LinkedIn Corp reported steep increase in revenue and profit for the second quarter with a significant growth in each of its business segments, particularly by mobile users.
The professional networking service posted a revenue of US$534 million for the curent quarter, which was up 47 percent from the same period a year earlier and ahead of Wall Street's forecast from US$511 million.

Based on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the company's net loss came around US$1 million but non-GAAP net income surged to US$63 million, 43 percent higher and more than US$14 million ahead of the Street's estimates.
The GAAP loss was one cent per share but profits rose to 51 cents per share from the previous 38 cents, when adjusted for stock-based compensation.
The company accredited the results to the work it has done to boost each of its products. The most visible factor of change has been its mobile applications, where LinkedIn has been investing strongly for its goal to make more than half of its users access the site on a mobile device.
LinkedIn's chief executive officer Jeff Weiner said on Thursday that business rose across the company's major segments particularly by the strong upticks in mobile usage.
LinkedIn trails the results previously reported by Facebook and Twitter, both with increasing revenue and users. Facebook said that its mobile activities had been strong while Twitter attained the highest number of its usage during the World Cup soccer tournament.
The social networking site acts as a collection of business connections as well as an online resume where companies can pay for access to search for potential new employees and users can choose to pay for advance features like sending message to people, or more vigorous search options.
LinkedIn recently launched an application to assist mobile professionals in searching and applying for jobs, which counts more than one million jobs in its listings today.
