Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is enjoying the status of a mega-star not only in his home country South Korea but also in China because of starring in hugely popular Korean dramas such as "Dream High" (2011), "Moon Embracing the Sun" (2012), "My Love from the Star" (2014), and the recently concluded "The Producers." In all these dramas, he has played positive characters. The actor, however, wants to portray a negative role, according to media reports.

It was revealed on an episode of "Night of TV Entertainment," aired on June 17, that Soo Hyun wishes to play the role of an antagonist. Soompi quoted a representative of casting agency CJ E&M as saying that the actor's manager approached them and said that the actor wants to be cast in a negative role. The representative added, "He asked us to suggest any roles available, even if it's a small one."

However, it does not look like anyone will offer Soo Hyun the role of a villain on a show, and according to Soompi, a poll also indicated that the actor is not going to play the evil man anytime soon. Soompi reported that Soo Hyun came second on a poll as the star who cannot be cast in the role of an antagonist.

"The Producers" saw Soo Hyun playing a rookie, goofy PD of a variety division, Baek Seung Chan. The actor's performance has been praised by everyone, and he has added another hit show on his acting resume with this drama.

The television ratings shot up for the final episode that aired on Saturday, June 20. AGB recorded 17.7 percent nationwide and 17.9 percent in Seoul, while TNMS reported that the final episode of 12-episode "The Producers" raked in ratings of 20.4 percent in Seoul and 18.2 percent nationwide.

It is not yet goodbye to Soo Hyun's character as a special episode of the drama is set to air on Friday, June 26. There is also a possibility of Season 2, though most of the Korean dramas follow the limited-episode, one-season format. Korea Boo quoted one of the drama's representatives as saying, "Viewers have requested for a new season, but we are in a stage where there are definitely no concrete plans for that yet."
