China may be giving the Russians and the Turks a run for their money after Asia's Sleeping Giant showcased a remarkable and outstanding weapon for its future battles.

China may have built what is now considered to be the fastest tank gun, the new 125mm cannon. This weapon is so advanced it is said to blow the Russian Armata and the Turkish Altay out of the water, Popular Science has learned.

Local reports revealed that a ceremony was held on June 10 to declare the handing over of the device by the 127th Ordinance Institute of the Central Northern University to People's Liberation Army (PLA) officers.

The powerful cannon is multipurpose and was designed to have the highest range and velocity, as well as the penetration power of a 120mm/125mm cannon.

While Germany's 120mm cannon has a caliber ratio of 55:1, China's 125mm has a ratio of at least 60:1, making it a tank cannon that's capable of high performance.

The barrel length of the Chinese cannon is 7.5 meters; it's muzzle velocity is at 2,000 per second, which is very impressive since the German L55 has 1,750 meters per second and the United States' M829A3 has 1,555 meters per second, as per The Diplomat.

What's very odd is after the Chinese showcased this technology at a public event, they quickly concealed all evidence that could prove its existence from the University's website.

Sources said the new 125mm cannon is set to undergo a couple more of testing by the PLA before it can even be used as China's main battle tanks.

Moreover, the performance of China's new artillery has yet to be confirmed, which may be the reason why China is not showcasing it yet to the world.

According to Popular Mechanics, Asia's Sleeping Giant may only be considering the idea of introducing its new advancement to the world once they have already ruled out their doubts on the capabilities of the 125mm cannon.

For now, the 125mm cannon prototype serves as a mark that the Chinese defense sector is venturing on more prolific partnerships with academia to create and carry out advanced military projects.
