The white-pelted Indominus Rex continues to be untamable as "Jurassic World" continues to dominate the big screen, already reaching the $1 billion mark worldwide, with only thirteen days to defeat the previous record holder.
The suspense-filled dinosaur adventure movie did not bother reaching the original 17 days that "Furious 7" had to reach its billionth dollar, needing only thirteen days to accomplish the said feat. Entertainment Weekly reported that the Colin Trevorrow-directed movie surpassed all expectations, holding on to the top spot in its second weekend, garnering $106.6 million.

The movie, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard leading the pack, opened as the number one film in 60 different territories, becoming the first to reach $500 million globally on its first week alone. Coming Soon reported that Universal must be rolling in the dough by now, as "Jurassic World" is their second film to reach $1 billion, with "Furious 7" also under their umbrella of franchises.
"Jurassic World" marks the return to Isla Nublar in Costa Rica, preceding the events of the first movie of the franchise. Scientists are once again playing God, mixing different genes from different animals to create a faster, stronger, and smarter dinosaur--the Indominus Rex--just to amp up the park attendance.
However, Forbes explained that the success of the dino sequel can be rooted from the fact that "Jurassic World" was released in the summer weekdays when majority of kids are out of school, in comparison to both "Avengers" and "Avengers 2," which were both released during the middle point of end-of-school and summertime.
However, profit is profit, and timing should always be considered and thought of carefully in planning a release date. Suffice to say, upcoming movies can be received by moviegoers just as well as "Jurassic World," given that the sequel is already on its way out of cinemas.
