In just 52 minutes, rising star Belinda Bencic put an end to Madison Key's title campaign at the Aegon International Eastbourne. The teenager powered her way to a straight set victory over the defending champion.

Bencic, predicted to be a top 10 player in the future, took the first set 6-2 as Keys hit numerous unforced errors. The American was expected to turn things around in the second set but the match progressed in Bencic's favor as she broke Keys to take a 3-2 lead. From then on, there was no stopping the Swiss teenager who played with consistency to claim a remarkable victory.

"I served really well and I'm happy with my performance," Bencic tells Eastbourne Herald. "I played well today and I hope can play just as well in the next round."

Indeed, she has a lot to prove in her next battle which will put her up against the 7th seed Eugenie Bouchard who had a tough yet victorious straight set win against American Alison Riske.

The 21-year-old who has been struggling with first round losses in the past few months is back on the winning track but hopes to take it one match at a time.

"It's definitely been a learning experience," comments Bouchard as reported by WTA Tennis. "I have had to learn to be patient and understand that there are going to be ups and downs in lives, and in tennis, and keep working and believing in what I do, no matter what, and know there's light at the end of the tunnel."

Both Bouchard and Bencic have yet to face each other but the odds seem to be on the Swiss' side after her confidence boosting win against Keys. She recently displayed an impressive grass court performance as well after reaching the finals of the Topshelf Open before losing to Camila Giorgi.

At the tender age of 18, Bencic is already making her mark in the women's circuit by reaching the third round of Wimbledon and becoming the youngest player since Martina Hingis to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open. From world no. 232, she soared in the rankings and ended 2014 as world no. 33.

It will take much preparation for Bouchard to end Bencic's winning form. Nonetheless, it will be a tough match and a sure highlight at the Centre Court of Eastbourne.
