According to Allen Murray, the senior producer of PopCap Games, the team had wanted to test the game in a smaller region compared to North America but with a pretty similar behavior in terms of economic styles.
"This allows us to have a more controlled testing player base and determine how to keep the game healthy, then map that to the expected growth when we launch worldwide." said Murray.
The game has been revealed at the E3 2013. But the former version of "Plants vs Zombies", which was released in 2009, didn't have many substantial improvements. So the players are looking forward to the new version.
"Plants vs Zombies 2" is experimenting with many new features. Since the game is operating on a free-to-play model, PopCap Games needs to make sure that certain features don't fail on the customers at critical moments. In addition, players will be able to save their progress to a cloud system if they're connected to the internet and share that data with other accounts on multiple devices, allowing the player to take their saved game with them anywhere.
Besides, in this version, users will find an icon which links the official website of "Plants vs Zombies". Players can purchase T-shirts or toy figurines on the website.
According to PopCap Games, Plants vs Zombies 2 will land in the App Stores of more other countries on July 18th. However, whether China is included in those countries is still unknown.
