Serena Williams and The Possibility of a 2015 Grand Slam

In 1988, a 19-year-old German named Steffi Graf ended the year by winning the Golden Slam, claiming all four Gland Slam singles titles including the Olympic Gold Medal. This year, world no. 1 Serena Williams is headed for the same direction minus the Olympic performance. If she wins Wimbledon and the US Open, Williams will only be the 2nd player in the Open Era to win all four grand slams in one year.

Yet Williams, who has enough titles under her belt, remains modest about the possibility.
"I haven't done well at Wimbledon recently, so that's the only one that's kind of eluding me," said Williams as reported by Yahoo! Sports. "So I'm trying to get to that one, at least make it deep in the second week of that tournament."
Williams is no doubt one of the greatest players in the history of tennis. She is on her way to win her 21st major title and no matter who she faces in the Wimbledon draw, she has the weapons to reverse matches and crawl out of a possible upset.
Statistics show that Williams has recovered from being a set down to win 33 matches in Grand Slams including wins in both the Australian and French Open this year. In fact, former world no. 1 John McEnroe praised Williams after her 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory in Roland Garros against Victoria Azarenka after being down a set and 4-2 in the second.
"That was 6-4, 4-2 and it was looking dicey, and Serena finds that extra gear, and that's not easy to do, especially when you're not playing that well," McEnroe told ESPN. "It's one thing when you're playing some unknown German player, but it's another thing when you're playing someone who's the former No. 1 player in the world and has won a couple of Slams and is hungry. And she still did it."
Betting sites are putting their money on Williams who has a 7-4 advantage over her peers to win Wimbledon. She has not lost a grand slam match since last year's 3rd round exit at the All England Club and hopes to extend her 21-match winning streak in the upcoming fortnight.
