After the thunderous success of One, the Chinese company is all set to launch an updated model at a virtual reality event in July. From here, the launch will be live streamed across the globe giving fans a sneak peek. 

According to Venture Beat, Chinese smartphone maker Oneplus has announced that it will be launching its new model at a virtual reality event by the end of next month, which is expected to happen on July 27.

The idea of using a virtual reality event as the launchpad in itself is a unique concept; however, Carl Pei, co-founder of Oneplus, says that the whole purpose of using the virtual reality platform is to ensure that the brand is able to connect with the users in a better way. Fans from all over the world will get to explore the new features in the phone as well as interact with the Oneplus team. 

Additionally, Oneplus has also confirmed that it has developed its own cardboard virtual reality headsets exclusively for the occasion. This is quite similar to what Google had done in the past. The event will also see the launch of cardboard virtual reality headsets made by Oneplus, which are durable and resistant to oil as well as dust. The headsets will be available through online shopping and users will have to pay an additional shipping charge for the same. Similar to the launch of the One, purchasing this phone will also require an invite, at least in the initial stage, as per The Next Web. 

Though there is not much clarity on the features of the new phone, it is expected that the device will sport Snapdragon 810 processor and will also sport a micro USB C port. It will have the Oxygen OS inspired from Android Lollipop. The Oneplus 2 will be the first product to have a virtual reality launch. The One mobile sported many high end features and was made available to the public at just 299 dollars.
