The latest member to join this bandwagon is Apple. Recently, Apple confirmed to removing all games with images of the hugely debated flag from its app store. The report further explains that the confederate flag is a strong reminder of the pre-civil war era. For some, it is a reminder of the hard work of the soldiers, while for others it is a reminder of the injustice and cruelty. While brands like Amazon and Walmart have banned the confederate flag merchandise, Apple has removed "Ultimate General: Gettysburg" and all the "Hunted Cow" from its app store listing.

Meanwhile, the move from Apple has received a mixed response from the developers as some of them believe that the use of the flag in these games was not offensive. Instead, it was used as a historical reference and so should not hurt any sentiments, USA Today reported.

Recently, Apple's top authority had also spoken against the use of the confederate flag and so this move was being expected. Additionally, this is not the first time that Apple has removed a game in lieu of a subject concerning political issues. Previously too, the brand has adopted a similar strategy when it faced social pressure for its Hunted Cow's "Tank Battle 1942" game that depicted Germans and Russians as enemies. Apple responded to the pressure by removing the game instead of altering the plot.

As a result of this HexWar games, it is also contemplating the idea or resubmitting its war game by altering the graphics and using a lesser known version of the confederate flag. However, there is no guarantee that these versions will be approved.
