In the latest Android and iOS development, FLIR has announced the launch of a plug-in thermal camera for the iOS, a similar update for Android phones will also be possible in the new device.

According to BGR, thermal imaging camera maker FLIR has announced the new model of its device. Called FLIR One, this thermal imaging camera is compatible with iOS devices, as well as Android phones. Previously, FLIR had a device that was compatible with iOS devices; however, citing its popularity, the makers have updated the model to cater to the demands of Android phones. This new camera will allow users to click good quality pictures even in the dark.

Additionally, the new device is lighter and easier to use. The compactness of the design makes it easier for users to work with. The updated version of the camera has got improved optics which includes a 160 by 120 Lepton Thermal Sensor, giving it better visibility in relatively poorer lighting conditions.

With the new software and a big boost in resolution, this camera is a better option as compared to its predecessor. The new software also increases the options for third party developers, giving them a chance to work their apps around the thermal imaging feature. Users will be able to use this camera with almost all types of android devices including tablets. The lightning connector makes it easy to attach and it also comes with a micro USB compatible version.

The inspiration for this device comes from thermal cameras that are used extensively in military and defense applications. Once connected, it converts the device into a thermal camera, as per NDTV. This camera then uses the sensor to detect body heat and accordingly click the picture.

Another unique feature is the dual screen option where users will be able to see the regular image as well as thermal one side by side. It comes with 350mAh battery and works without interruption for one hour on being charged for forty minutes.  

The previous version was compatible with Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S devices only.
